A VOICE OF ANNADATA

REDEFINE WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A FARMER…!!!

Many people think that farm life is easy, so peaceful and quiet, but to me, it’s noisy.

It’s high time to redefine what it means to be a farmer in 21st century.

Whether a food producer, tax payer or a policy maker, all have a stand in greening agriculture for the ecological stability of the planet. But when it comes to implementing a change, a lot is just expected from one group, the FARMERS.

Farmers are expected to fulfil various roles: Guardians of food security, Defenders of animal welfare, caretaker of the land or boosters of the economy. To do any of these, the farmers need to make their voices heard with the public, the government and each other.

EK VIDATA: ANNADATA

It’s really hard to balance the different expectations, to maintain a cultural, healthy relationship between the food selling habits of farmers and the food buying habits of the consumers. Thus, at LEAFYO, it’s a place where you can hear the voice of farmers and understand the needs of the customers, meeting both the farmer and the customer expectations leading to the establishment of a healthy successful market environment.

DILEMMA OF FARMERS

Hard work and perseverance always pays off. Thanks to farmers, our Annadata, so that we can eat a wide range of fruits and vegetables all the year round. The bountiful harvest of the farmland sustains it all.

Being a farmer is a difficult and often thankful profession. Working the land and gaining a bountiful harvest is back-breaking labour that takes blood, sweat and tears. Farmers experiencing hardships are being encouraged to speak, seek help and thus, at LEAFYO, through the section ‘A VOICE OF ANNADATA” we encourage our customers to see what it takes to be a farmer and appreciate their efforts.

With the increase in population, there is an increasing pressure on farmers to meet the growing demands of the people. There is also an increasing pressure from the climate change, soil erosion, loss of biodiversity and from consumers’, with their changing tastes and concerns about how it is produced. Thus, the farmers must meet the changing needs of our planet and expectations of regulators, customers , food processors and the retailers.

In the words of John F. Kennedy ,“ The farmer is the only man in our economy who buys everything at retail, sells everything at wholesale, and pays the freight both ways.”

So, RESPECT the labour that goes into every harvest; ANNADATA SUKHI BHAVA.

FARMING IS A BUSINESS…

In recent years, there has been a shift in focus from ‘enough food’ to good food’. To increase the nutritional content of crops and to minimize the chemical residues in crops, the society has an increasing expectation from the farmers, to meet the rising demands for more food of higher quality with least impact on the environment.

Farmers need to invest in technologies, from treated seeds to crop protection products and precision spraying, they must learn to make the best use of technologies to improve their business.

But the question of concern is, “Who is going to farm in the future?”

As the farmers are facing more and more pressure, more hardships, many of them are giving up, migrating to cities. Large scale farmers are having enough resources and can afford to invest, ut the smallholders don’t always have access to an affordable source of credit.

We, at LEAFYO, ensure that everybody wins: Inspire farmers to keep continuing their practice, agriculture becomes sustainable, and that our customers have safe, healthy and nutritious food.
